MEET OUR TEAM

Maki Robie, owner and yoga instructor at renew yoga in salem, ma

Maki Robie

Owner & yoga instructor

Having grown up in Japan and practiced Shinto and Buddhism, Maki learned how meditation brings peace and calm to her life at a young age. Yoga reconnected her to the sense of inner peace through deep breath and moving meditation, and she is passionate about sharing the beauty and benefits of yoga to others. She has been a dedicated practitioner and a yoga enthusiast for many years, and it still amazes her how quiet the mind becomes in the midst of challenging movements when the breath is connected to the body.

Maki has completed 200hr of Yoga Alliance teacher trainings at the Embody Yoga in Amherst with Patty Townsend and at the Empower Yoga in Beverly with Tricia Philpott, as well as in-house teacher training and assisting program at the Baptiste studio with Gregor Singleton and Claire Este-McDonald. She has also taken Level 1 & 2 teacher training with Baron Baptiste. She likes to teach a powerful flow with focus on alignments in a joyful yet calming environment, and guides students to explore their true potential and to be present in each and every moment. Centering on the belief that everyone has their own innate wisdom, love, and peace, Maki brings a sense of zen into her life and to her yoga.

Along with yoga, she enjoys traveling, camping, hiking, learning about nutrition and natural health, and spending time with her two wonderful daughters, Maya & Leanna, and her supportive husband Brad.

Allison is a lifetime student of yoga and has studied with legendary yoga leaders including Baron Baptiste, Beryl Bender Birch, Kathryn Budig, Paige Elenson, Ana Forest, Bryan Kest, Todd Norian, as well as one to one study with Rolf Gates.

In June 2014 Allison completed her 500 hour teacher training with Claire Estes-McDonald and Gregor Singleton of Divine Play Yoga. Allison is a Tier 1 Certified Baptiste Power Yoga Leader as well as a Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance (500 hour RYT/200 hour E-RYT)

Allison loves spending her time with like minded yogis noting that each of her trainings has been an integral part of her yoga journey. Allison has a pure passion for teaching and loves sharing the transformative qualities of this practice with her students. Allison teaches  a powerful practice balanced with humor and ease reminding her students (and herself) that self acceptance starts on our mat.

“Each time I get on my mat and come into my breath I find the peace, presence and awakening that this life changing  practice offers to me”.  Allison lives in Swampscott, MA with her husband Matthew, son Jesse, dog Monte and their cat Maui.

Sarah McCormack

Yoga Instructor

Sarah has been in the fitness industry for over thirty years and holds numerous certifications. She started as an aerobics instructor and personal trainer, and eventually found yoga when her body started talking back. Her first yoga class was at a Bikram studio and at that time she believed that if it wasn’t hard and hot it wasn’t worth it. After earning her Yoga Fit certification and participating in several workshops including Rolf Gates, Baron Baptists, Todd Norman, John Friend, Shiva Rea, Beryl Bender Birch, and David Mangone to name a few, she decided to do her 200-hour training with Liz O’Shea Sullivan at Yoga Bodhi, which is a more traditional Iyengar style training.

Ali DiFrancesco

Yoga instructor

Ali has been practicing yoga for over 10 years. She completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training in 2019 with Baptiste Powerhouse Elizabeth DeAngelis of Cape Ann Yoga School.

Always a runner, logging 5 miles each day on the treadmill and having completed multiple marathons, Ali found herself at a stand still. She stumbled upon Cape Ann Power Yoga in Gloucester and immediately found herself at home. Ali loved the community and how the practice left her feeling energized, challenged, and rewarded.

Ali never regretted showing up and always left with a smile on her face, quickly noticing how much stronger she was becoming. Ali wants to provide people with the same environment her studio provided to her — kindness, no judgement and transformation of mind and body. She especially loves the consistency of a Baptiste practice.

Yoga has helped her be more present, reduce anxiety and truly enjoy the current moment.

Outside of yoga, Ali enjoys spending time with her daughter Isla and husband Matt.

Come and enjoy some good music, a great flow and a few laughs because Ali tries to take nothing in life too seriously.

Cara Wall

Yoga instructor

A lifelong fitness enthusiast, Cara is an active skier, runner, cyclist, and was a certified YMCA fitness instructor. In 2008, a friend nudged her to try yoga, opening her eyes to the wider connection between mind and body.

The moment she stepped on her mat, an emotional, spiritual, and physical journey began awakening her desire to want to experience more, as she felt a real sense of empowerment.

In her own practice, she focuses on her innate mindset of curiosity, open to possibility, motivating her to complete her 200-hour Teacher Training in 2015. She shares her experience of yoga from the heart and encourages her students to do the same by opening their minds and bodies to infinite possibilities.

Cara began her professional career after college in business management with a variety of fast growing companies, “pausing” for 25 years to raise a family. Nurturing three young adult children of her own has created an awareness of the benefit yoga could bring to a wider demographic. When she is not on her mat, Cara enjoys her time in Maine with her husband and three children.
